About C Squadron 3rd Light Horse Regiment Historical Troop

We operate in Tasmania, and are based in Hobart. Apart from our common interest in horses we share a passion for keeping alive the memory of the sacrifices made by our Light Horse ancestors. We participate in parades and provide static and mounted displays of skill at arms, at show's and events around Tasmania. Lectures on the history of the Tasmanian Light Horse can be given on request.

The history of the Tasmanian Light Horse started in 1899 with the Tasmanian Mounted Infatry that fought in the Boer War. After Federation it was designated as a Light Horse was incorporated into various Regiments including the 3rd Light Horse Regiment which served during the Great War.

• 1903 - 1913: 12th Light Horse Regiment
• 1913 - 1921: 26th Light Horse Regiment (TMI)
• 1914 - 1919: C squadron 3rd Light Horse Regiment (AIF) 

After World War 1

• 1921 - 1930: 22nd Light Horse Regiment (TMI)
• 1930 - 1937: 3rd Light Horse Regiment (TMI)
• 1937 - 1943: 22nd Light Horse Regiment (TMI)
• 27th April 1943: 22nd Light Horse Regiment (TMI) disbanded
